baka testo anime vs novel

Im nt sure if thats the actual cause, but if this is why i got my headache for 2 days, i wun be surprised.

Before reading the novel, my impression of baka testo was that it is quite a funny series. Tho the summoner test war thingy was quite lame. The fights were decided by purely the power level. So like a being with 90 will lose to one with power 100, its nt even a close fight. There is no involvement of techniques, strategies to influence and affect the fights. However i let the fact it had such a crappy fighting system pass, cos the comedy was very entertaining haha. Not forgeting Hideyoshi haha. SheHe alone was enuff a reason to watch baka test =D


Anyway after reading most of baka testo vol 1, I realise the anime is basically fillers. Or it could be that the anime studio took materials frm beyond vol 1 and animate them instead. cos after 10 epi, they dun even cover 5 chp of vol 1.


den suddenly in ep 11, they rush thru 2 summoning wars. Like in the case of umineko, they simply summarise the fight, leave out all the little little epic moments of each characters. Alot, of such moments.


the fighting between summoned beings was also nt some simple power level vs power level affair. The beings can exhibit skills and abilities. Dodge attacks and stuff.


In the novel, they showed why Yuuji was called a genius frm his foresight, tactical intelligence, ability to think on his feets, and stuff. And not like wads shown on the anime, to be able to score well for exam if he actually wants to, thats like depicting a totally different thing.


However i also feel that, becos after reading the source material, i am unable to form an unbiased judgement cos i am pro-source material. hardly, if nt nvr had i enjoyed an adaptation more than the original. I think if i didn read vol 1, i might still enjoy ep 11, or at least have no complains.

Code Geass R2

Took a long time for me to consolidate my thoughts on the end of the series. Was reading forums about their discussion on the series too. Abit gay, several topics have discussion up to 800+ pages, hitting 900 soon.

My first thoughts upon the end of the series, was that its good. The way they end things with Zero Requiem... Aiyo still very hard for me to write out wad i actually feel about this series afterall.

R2 had several sad parts, first was the shirley death. Which was pretty tragic, rolo was really a bastard for killing her, she was no threat.

Den 2nd was the rolo's death. Tho before this point i hated him like nonsense, but he manage to redeem himself in his death wtf. Hes death made me teary eyed. Damn sad during the part he was telling lelouch hw he felt, why is he doing this, even tho he cant hear any of it cos he was geassed. For once, he is acting on his own will.

3rd is prolly lelouch's death la. Doing all this stunt to direct the world's hatred on him, bringin it all to an end with his death.

Sad that couldn see a kalulu ending =(

Tho in 2nd season gt a few crap arcs, like the Charles and Marianne 1, the supposed bad guy motive suddenly became 'supposedly' good. But anyway it doesnt matter, he 'died' soon after.

In the end, i still generally enjoy the series to a large extent. Im nt goin tok much about it, but Code Geass is indeed a must watch.

Code Geass R1 review

Once again, yj's recommendations proved to be great works. Code Geass, the anime which i have refused to watch for 2 years? Due to the fact i wasnt interested in its name, its character didn catch my attention and cos i didn spot it myself lol.

Neways jus suddenly, like 1 week ago, i decide to try code geass. I think its cos im running out of anime to watch, i only left like 3 series on my harddisk liao. Nt bad for an anime which is a few years old, i gt it within 2 days. Unlike mahouraba which i rmb took 6 months....

I gt it on my psp, the first 5 episodes for a start. There was a day, many of them go nights out and play dota. I decided to stay in camp n relac. I watched my weekly dose of Tora Dora, Today in class 5-2 and akane-iro ni somaru saka liao. So nothin to watch so i finally start code geass.

And that was it.

The next moment i was conscience of my surrounding, was when i was at the end of episode 5.

There isnt many occasions when i will enter this state of absolute concentration. I rmb last sat, in camp, while i was chionging code geass. I was totally oblivious to the surrounding, 3 hours was gone in an instant.

Code Geass is about this guy, who has a simple wish. He wants to live happily ever after with his sister. And maybe also to avenge his mama.

In the first episode, he acquired a power. The power of absolute obedience. With this power, he starts his revolution, and work towards his little wish.

This is jus a very brief n lousy introduction to code geass, cos i dun wan to spoil any more of the story liao. This anime belongs to the "Just-watch-the-damn-thing-cos-its-good" catagory.

But it seems that everything in this world definitely gt ppl dun like. But i liked it, i think its good, very good.

Its story is similar to Death Note. But Light really is like shen liao, too imba. Lelouch is jus simply smart, but he is more human. To Light, he really reach the level that killin ppl, even those close to him, err wait, maybe he doesnt... So he doesnt give a fuck who dies... Well anyway Lelouch, who has gt more frens in that sense, he goes thru more emo shit. Hes close ones suffering becos of his actions, but he cannot stop halfway, cos more blood has to be shed, so those that already had wouldn be in vain. But that is debatable la, in another perspective, its nvr too late to stop, so that no more will die. This is where the enemy of Lelouch comes into picture.

Another difference is that Light nt jus ability like shen, he really wants to become Shen. He wants to change the world, change it the ideal world. Lelouch is more human, he wants to create a peaceful world, for his sister.

Argh if go watch jiu know liao la.

Neways Code Geass gt less xinjitsu involved den Death Note, less stress on the head. Cos Death note is like, telling to come play along the game, try to figure out wat is happen as the story progress. Lets figure it out together. Its almost like its interactive, the reader use the blian alot like tryin to solve a puzzle liddat.

Code Geass is more normal, its really jus watching the story. It jus tells u wad happen, and spare u frm thinkin too much, but u are welcomed to think if u wanna. But cos things are happening everywhere, so there isnt much time for deep thoughts, unlike Death Note where its only about Kira Vs L.

Code Geass gets one reflecting about the issues they bring up in the story. Like for example jus now i say that 1 la, wad killing more to justfied the killed. Death Note is more of clapping at the genius of L and Light.

Now why am i comparing Code Geass and Death Note..... Hmm i jus seem to link them together...

There were many brilliant scenes, but i always have a special liking to those emo scenes, and there were 2 that was great imo.

The first was the part where Lelouch had to make Shirley forget everything about Zero and Lelouch. Similar to the part in Fortune Arterial where Erika was to erase Kohei's memories. Losing the memories they had together, the happy times, angry times, emo times wadeva, things that establish wadeva relationship towards one another. Ahh, and i have to thx boon kiat for interupting me twice at the same part of the episode =D.

The 2nd part was when Lelouch accidentally commands Euphemia to kill all japanese. That wasnt emo, but it gave the feeling like, wah truly wasted. How did things turn out like this. I totally wasnt expecting that turn of event. I feel for Lelouch, a surprise that he didn commit sucide after that mistake. Having no choice, he used this situation to the advantage of the order of the black knights, at least Euphemia unjust death wouldn have been even more unjust.

Haiz after recalling this 2 scenes now im sad...

I'll be off to play fifa 09 now. Go trash some teams. Den come back for Code Geass R2
